Google-Moto deal gets Chinese nod- Android to remain free

Ah! The Chinese authority finally approved the Internet giant Google’s deal of buying Motorola Mobility Holding Inc. at  $12.5 billion cash. The deal was approved on Saturday 19th of May 2012.

But, hold on- there is a condition. “Google’s Android operating system for mobile devices will remain available free and open for next five years.” Motorola has been using Android o/s for its products.

Google CEO Larry Page have said during a conference call last August, at the time the intended acquisition was announced. “We built Android as an open-source platform and it will stay that way.” more…
