Touch-share-launch-transfer: SamsungTecTiles App

Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards for smartphones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching them together or bringing them into close proximity, usually no more than a few cm. Samsung TecTile Android app lets you do just that. It read & write TecTile NFC Programmable Tags.

You can create TecTiles to change settings on your phone, launch applications, check-in to places, update social status, or even make phone calls or send text messages automatically. Once you create a TecTile using the TecTile app, place the TecTile in a convenient place, then tap your phone to the TecTile to perform the action stored in the TecTile.

Basic requirement is: Samsung TecTile NFC Programmable Tags will be needed to use with this app. The tags could be purchased from mobile phone store, or from http://www.samsung.com/us/tectile The official Samsung TecTile website and store.

A list of types of TecTiles you can make with the Samsung TecTile app are: –

  • Change Phone Settings as you like your phone to be.
  • Joining a WiFi Network.
  • Show a Message: Make a TecTile that shows a message to whoever scans it.
  • Make a Call: Make a TecTile that’ll bring up the phone ready to make a call to the number you choose.
  • Send a Text Message: to send an SMS to the number you choose.
  • Show an Address or Location: to bring up a map of an address or location.
  • Open a Web Page: to launch a web page.
  • Share a Contact: to share a contact’s details. Great as a way to exchange business cards.
  • Update Facebook Status.
  • Facebook Like.
  • Tweet a Status.
  • Follow a Twitter User.
  • Start a Google Talk Conversation.
  • Connect on LinkedIn.
  • Lot lot lot more.
