China Russia to sign agreement on Lunar Research Station

According to Russian news agency TASS, Director General of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin has said that China and Russia are ready to sigh an agreement on creating the International Lunar Research Station.

He said this in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel.

China has not said anything on this yet. However, according to news report in Bloomberg in January this year officials at the Chinese space agency confirmed that the two countries will sign an agreement towards achieving this.

Last year in June Deputy Director of the Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center of the China National Space Administration (CNSA) has said that the two countries are planning to launch six missions within the preparatory stage of building an international Moon base.

Few months before this the two countries signed an memorandum of understanding for the Construction of the International Lunar Research Station.

According to the presentation shown during the GLEX-2021 conference last year the first investigative stage will be from 2021 to 2025. During this China planned to send three missions , and Russia planned to send an automatic station, lunar polar orbiter and a lunar lander.

If things go as per plan this lunar station should be complete in 2035.
